I can’t really remember when babies start to speak their first words… I remember with Maddie that it seemed like babbling and she kind of fell into saying ma-ma. Amelia is probably going to say da-da first though and she may be saying it right now. When Andy walks in the door, Amelia immediately scammers over to him as fast as she can and says da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da. When she bonks her head on something she looks up at him and says da-da-da-da-da-da-da.
Our good friends Todd and Tonya visited us in Portland this week because of a conference. Bauer joined them so Amelia had a pint size buddy for a week. These two are going to be great friends this coming school year. They are old enough to make each other laugh and just five weeks apart. I see many, many more glorious messes in our future!
She’s just cute - I can’t help it! I was trying out my dad’s new camera that let you take photo on top of photo on top of photo. The girl was in a camera shoot!!!! Crawling around on Grandpa’s carpet from Saudi Arabia offered the perfect spot to chill out…
Amelia is downright gifted in getting me to make the most interesting faces. One of the newest things is pulling my hair. When she was smaller, the tugs were light and it was cute, but now…. not so much! Of course, my reactions only egg her on which gets her sister in absolute stitches!
Summer vacation gave us time to finally meet up with the rest of our family. When we came home at Christmas time we met our Portland family for the first time but, our family in Illinois had to hold out until summer. As soon as Amelia saw Grandpa Billy, her face lit up the room. How can you help but melt when she flip her head, looks you straight in the eye, and grin from ear to ear showing all 8 teeth with glory. As Grandpa said, “This is a disarming smile!”
Amelia has a reputation at school. Faculty and staff are starting to schedule their coffee breaks around 12:15 so that they can see Amelia cruising down the hallways with Ms. Zhou. They come to see her smile.
This child smiles all of the time. When she’s tired - smiles. When she’s happy - she smiles. When she’s hanging out - she smiles. It’s just what she does…
Last night we had the final Gourmet Geeks episode and she was brilliant the entire night. She smiled a lot and let me eat too! Not too shabby!!!
Amelia loves this yellow duck. The duck is actually a puppet of sorts and you can activate it’s quacky songs with her your hands. I think I’ve forgotten the words to Old MacDonald, but I’m pretty sure I could quack it for ya. Notice the jammies that Amelia has on. Amelia is almost 8 months… Maddie wore these pajamas when she was nearly a year and a half old!!!
Amelia is a modern flapper. By definition a flapper is a young lady, especially one in the 1920s who showed disdain for conventional dress and behavior.
Conventional dress? A diaper will do…. who needs pants?!
Conventional behavior? Everyone should trip flapping their arms and legs as fast as they can while smiling from ear to ear because you just can’t help but feel good about the world!
She’s getting stronger and stronger everyday and spends very littel time in one place. Instead, she spots something across the room and rolls over to it.
One of my favorite moments of the day is heading to school around noon in order to give mom and dad a break from the day. It’s a big job, but somebody has got to do it and I’m always up to the task! Daddy’s office is so office like sometimes, but the moment I get there, the whole place lights up. Have you ever noticed that adults look and talk really funny around us babies? I do bring out the best in people though if I do say so myself!
