I came home today expecting it to be like other Friday nights, but when I came home today I could tell that this would be a different evening. Maddie had been invited to a last minute sleep-over next door and Amelia went with Maddie straight after school, believing that she too would have a sleep-over. I knew she would be sad leaving the “big girl” party so I went to action and thought of the ultimate bribery to get Meelie to come home willingly… are you ready for this?
Cherry Ice Box Pie!!!
My mom made this with me all of the time when I was a little girl and I thought it was high time that Amelia experienced the fun of making this ultra-sweet pie. It worked… she left Maddie who was a bit green with envy with the knowledge of our future pie-baking escapades.
Amelia was the perfect mixer with the whipped cream and held those beaters up for a long time to make the whipped cream peak. She folded in the cream cheese/powered sugar mixture perfectly and all was well until I got the prepared Graham Cracker crust out of the cupboard.
“What’s this mommy?”
CRASH!
“What was that mommy?”
She was then able to experience the joys of making a homemade graham cracker crust!
Well done Amelia Mabel! The pie looks delicious! Now let’s put it in the icebox so that it’s perfect for your pizza making party with daddy tonight!
Amelia Mabel….. Amelia Mabel was peanut today at the dentist. It was a far cry from the joy we experiences during her first visit. We got into the chair, but that was the extent of our visit! Who knows what goes through the mind of a four year old in situations like these, but let’s just say that we’ll skip this appointment and try again in May.
So on the theory of “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade” we decided to come home and bake cookies. Of course we had to decorate them too. Icing everywhere, sticky everywhere, but we had a great time and I think she’ll take them to school today to share them with her friends. We had Christmas trees, holiday ornaments, snowmen, horses and we even threw in a few hearts for good measure. Amelia thought the pink frosting tasted them best! Go figure…
Amelia Mabel has never been more excited.. she walked around the house for weeks humming along. Now that I’ve turned the show into a movie, she turns on the Apple TV a couple of times a day just so that she can listen and participate again! Congratulations Amelia Mabel! You were a delightful little tough girl and we had (have) so much fun watching you!
Amelia loves to go to the barn when her older sister takes horseback riding lessons. Amelia will be old enough one day to take lessons as well, but in the meantime she will enjoy feeding the horses and playing with the sheep!
I’ve decided Amelia is all talk! Just kidding… But she was so brave at the dentist in May and today at the salon she is super shy. Who washed her hair at the salon? Me!!!
